Doorknockers will be making their way around Moree on Sunday, asking locals to donate to the church, which reaches out over a million vulnerable people each year.
The army provide everything from emergency welfare and addiction recovery programs to homelessness services and rural support.
If locals don’t receive a knock on the door this year, they will also be able to donate at static points at Woolworths, Coles in Balo Square and the Salvation Army Family Store on Heber Street.
Those without cash in hand can also donate $5 by texting Moree to 1999 2769. All donations above $2 are tax deductible.
The static point collections have already begun, and local Captain BJ Moulder was grateful to the town for their generosity so far.
“Most people are quite willing to donate to the Salvation Army. It’s a pretty well known brand,” she said.
If everyone in Moree donated one dollar per person in their household, we’d meet our target.

She encouraged anyone who walks by a static point and wishes to donate to do so, because “the reality is we don't doorknock the whole town”.
She said that in previous years Moree has had around 20 volunteer collectors, but she’d love to see that number grow.
“If we had 50 collectors we’d knock over the whole town,” she said.
Captain Moulder said that every little bit counted, and that any donation, however small, was welcome.
“If everyone in Moree donated one dollar per person in their household, we’d meet our target,” she said.
She also promised that volunteer collectors would not have to sacrifice their whole day to the cause. Locals are invited to simply collect their street or collect for an hour or two.
She said volunteers are always needed, and anyone wishing to help doorknock are invited to meet at Westpac bank, 9am on Sunday.
