A part of National Families Week, the event aims to celebrate the vital role families play in the community and promote this year’s theme of ‘stronger families, stronger communities’.
The day will be kid-friendly and full of activity with music, face painting, a jumping castle, story time and an arts and craft corner.
Free health checks and demonstrations will be available, as well as a barbecue lunch.
Rural Parenting Resilience support worker Lisa Moore believes one essential way of building stronger communities is by connecting families with the many critical services available to them.
Healthwise, Moree Plains Shire Council, Big Sky Libraries, Thiyama-li Family Violence Services, and Moree Family Support are among the local services taking part. The services will be providing information about the various programs and activities available in the Moree area.
The Centacare slogan is we need to talk, and that could be about anything.

“There's lots of counselling and family services that are available that people don't actually know about,” Lisa said. She hopes to connect families with services and help remove the stigma or fear associated with seeking help.
“Without fail, people that sometimes do struggle, often don’t ask for help because they're too embarrassed or ashamed.”
Lisa promised that local services never leave a crisis unattended, and if they can’t help, they will always refer the person to someone who can.
“The Centacare slogan is we need to talk, and that could be about anything,” she said.
The family fun day will be held at Apex Park Moree from 10am on Wednesday, May 18.
“The day will be a great opportunity to acknowledge the critical role all families play in building a stronger community, so please come down and say hello,” Lisa said.
