In May 2016 Moree on a Plate will again dish up a smorgasbord of local producers showcasing the wonderful fresh fare on offer in the North West.

And our local fare will take on an Asian flavour this year, with celebrity chef Marion Grasby a feature of the festival.

Moree on a Plate President, Mary-Kate McCormick said she was thrilled to be welcoming Marion to the region all the way from Bangkok.

“We live in such a diverse, global society which is reflected in the food we eat so it’s really exciting to have Marion share with us some of her creative flair with Asian flavours mixed with her penchant for classic European techniques.”

Marion, who rose to fame as a favourite on popular television program Masterchef, now has her own successful product line as well as two published cookbooks.

However Marion is no stranger to the Moree district.

“I had great friends from the area during my boarding school years in Brisbane – I even know where Garah is!”

“I’m super pumped to be heading to Moree on a Plate for a day of awesome food and entertainment. I’m looking forward to showcasing the fabulous produce from the North West while hosting some fun and interactive cooking demonstrations. I hope to see you there!”

With the Moree district long regarded as one of the world’s premier producers of grains and cotton, a number of boutique industries, such as oranges and olives, have also cemented their place on the table in recent years.

Mrs McCormick said Moree was one of Australia’s top food bowls and there was a continually growing diversity of what’s on offer.

“It’s a very exciting time for producers and the community and the Moree on a Plate Food Festival is the perfect opportunity to showcase our produce in a relaxed, social environment.”

The day will be held on Mother’s Day eeekend, Saturday May 7 on the grounds on The Moree Secondary College.
