Over the coming weeks representatives of Moree Plains Shire Council (MPSC) and the Moree Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a ‘business confidence survey’ within the Shire and asking all local business owners and managers to participate.
The survey is open to every business in Moree, of any type, with individual responses kept confidential.
Moree Chamber of Commerce president, David MacLellan, said as business owners its easy to blame population, drought etc for the current state of their business. The survey asks questions that make them look at themselves and their practises.
“We will get around to every single business including the agriculture sector, they are the important ones. To see what issues they are having and see if council or chamber can assist with those issues,” he said.
Council will also be sending the survey to businesses in Mungindi and Boggabilla.
“It will be interesting to know if people are affected by major infrastructure process. It will be interesting to see what business are directly affected by agriculture as well.”
Following closure of the survey at the end of February, aggregated statistics will be produced and a summary report will be made available for participating businesses.
The survey aims to identify business challenges and opportunities and seeks feedback in relation to the impact of projects like the Moree Bypass. It will also assist Council and the Chamber to target specific business sectors through Council’s local economic development strategies.
The survey is forming part of a suite of efforts aimed at enhancing economic and community development over the coming months. As such, Council and the Chamber are hoping to obtain a 100% response rate, to gain an accurate snapshot of our local business landscape.
The survey is intended to be part of a regular series, to allow changes over time to be tracked.
The survey is being hand-delivered to Moree’s main commercial areas, but is also available to complete online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RQ2G8SS
