Aboriginal Model Search founder and Kamilaroi girl, Sharlette Jane, said nominations were still open for anyone wanting to be exposed to a “massive opportunity”.
“We are hoping for around 30-40 contestants for the Moree competition. It is a whole community event and event if participants don’t make it to the national finals, they will still learn some new skills,” she said.
Ms Jane said the competition opened up the opportunity to represent Australia in the fashion industry and the possibility of an international career.
“Experience in the industry is not necessary. Contestants have and will continue to be selected from online applications and be educated in a fun environment.” It will be a friends and family only event at the services club on February 21 to ensure the girls will not feel uncomfortable or nervous.
Regional winners and wildcards will compete in a national final in Sydney and will be coached by industry
professionals. Contestants can apply online at www.aboriginalmodelse arch.com.au.
