Miyay Birray youth worker, Glen Crump, said the oztag afternoon was a great success.
“We thought by having a sport for the first event would be good for the kids to mingle and get to know each other better,” he said.
More than 100 children participated in the round-robin style competition at Boughton Oval.
Ranging in ages from six to late teen the teams were mixed and all about showing good sportsmanship.
Partnered with Moree Family Support and Health WISE, Miyay Birray provided water and fresh fruit for the keen players.
“We have a number of sports activities throughout the month. We can provide transport as well but we need permission slips,” he said.
Today there will be an active day of swimming at the pool, a skate park day on January 20, tennis day on January 25 and an indoor spots day at the multipurpose centre on January 27.
“We hope to have high numbers for all our holiday activity events throughout the month. All activities are free and we provide transport, food, sunscreen and water.”
