Movember raises money for research for prostate, testicular cancer and mental health issues.
Mo grower, Frank Crump, said I read the stories of a lot of Movember brothers and sisters and hear their story, they are touching.
“I see cancer everyday, at work and with friends. So I wanted to bring awareness to Movember’s organisation,” he said.
Last year, Mr Crump raised $1800, this year he didn’t have such high expectations.
“It’s been a hard year financially, but people have been generous. I originally had my goal at $2000, but I thought I should be realistic and brought it back down to $1800.”
As soon as Mr Crump reached $1000 he received a pair of scissors as recognition for his efforts.
“I have only done the ground basics of growing the mo, it’s the support from the community that means so much.
“All the support has been great, I feel over the moon.”
Next year Mr Crump is planning on continuing his charity work by completing two Relay for Life walks and Hike for Homeless. He will also participate in another Movember but hasn’t thought about his target at this stage.
“It’s really important to get behind charity organisations because you really have to support them.”
