Belinda has been producing award-winning pieces for more than a decade.
Born in Moree, Belinda has been a full-time artist for more than 18 years after taking up a paint brush seriously in 1997.
“In 1997 I started painting miniatures and I was really inspired by Kym Hart so I travelled to Broken Hill and bought three wet paintings off of his studio floor and he invited me to go out painting with him, which was an amazing experience.”
With an exceptional eye for light and shadow, Belinda's pieces are evocative and allow you to transport into the work and experience the rich tapestry of colour and mood.
Despite living between Sydney and Moree for most of her life, a calling to revisit the outback has continued to be very strong, she says.
“Moree has been a large part of my desire to portray elements of the Australian countryside and community.”
“Always been passionate about our country and I try to portray rural outback Australia in my paintings.
“I was lucky enough to grow up on a property 20 kilometres west of Moree on a dryland wheat property and that was my backyard and that memory has been inspiration for a lot of my artworks.”
Belinda has worked on local projects including ‘Brolga mural’ and ‘Sunday afternoon along the Mehi’ after being invited to participate by project coordinator Janelle Boyd.
Belinda is also collaborating with 15-year-old, local artist Nicki Justice-Brown.
“A few months ago I said I wanted to collaborate with a young indigenous artist from Moree and the next day Nicki contacted me and it was perfect timing.
“So over the last couple of months we have done some collaborative work together and have started to sell our work online.
“We thoroughly enjoy working together and hope to continue to paint together in the future.”
