Moree Motor Enthusiasts member, Phil Partridge, said about nine years
ago the club were brainstorming ways to host a successful motor trade show to promote local dealers.
“We decided to host a show and shine on Father’s Day as we figured it was probably the only day Dads really get the chance to relax and take the family somewhere. We then decided to ask around the other enthusiasts clubs and display some cars, trucks and motorbikes,” he said.
Mr Partridge said there were always a wide variety of vehicles and this year would be no different.
“We have cars, motorbikes, trucks, boats, dealers, displays and much more and they are coming from places such as Tamworth, Newcastle and so on,” he said.
With over 60 categories trophies will be awarded to individual car, truck, motorbike and boat owners, chosen by each trophy sponsor.
“We have so many different categories and we need to have trophies for each so it is great when we can give out so many and involve the sponsors; it’s not on points or anything, just the sponsors favourite so the million dollar car might not win, so to speak,” Mr Partridge said.
There will be music and entertainment over the PA during the day. “In previous years we’ve seen crowds of three to four thousand so we hope this year is no different. We usually have a lot more stalls at the Father’s Day markets which is also a draw card to the event,” he said.
There will be a variety of treasures, local craft and jewellery, plants and home wares, poultry, sample delectable foods, and fresh produce for the table available at the stalls.
“While you are there, enjoy the rose garden, which features a covered pergola area and the variety of trees and natural landscapes contribute to the park’s popularity as a location for wedding photos and naming ceremonies; and take the short walk from the park to the fish ladder and weir, which is located on the north-western side,” an organiser wrote on the Moree Markets Facebook page.
