The year started with 17 boys and four dads from the under 12s attending the freezing TAS carnival.
Walcha put on a good show under trying conditions.
The weather only got better as the season progressed, with only rain at Barraba.
Then the carnival was Moree’s turn. There were concerns it would be rained out, Moree Plains Shire Council’s Jeremy James really helped out getting line marking done in no time.
Moree juniors club president Stuart Gall said all players were extremely well-behaved.
“We had no reports of incidents on or off the field,” Gall said.
As the juniors have no official point scoring, all team members received a participation prize including a team picture and tshirt.
“As a junior club we teach them the basics and how to have fun,” Gall said.
“There is a whole team out there working together to score.”
Gall has his eye on Jack Montgomery, Ollie Haddad and Nick Fisher from the under 14’s team.
“They are very competitive but played well all year.”
