The event was held during the school holidays.
About 1500 students attended the games and participated in 15 different sports from gymnastics to basketball and netball.
Chloe Flegerbein, Abby Newton, Elyne Tighe, Jim Alchin, Tom Hatton, Logan Thrift and Riley Watson from Moree played tennis across two days. They played against Tamworth, Gunnedah, Scone and Noosa Heads.
The games were played in the ‘fast four’ format in which sets finish at four games, there are no deuces and lets are allowed on serves.
Whomever was in the lead when the buzzer went after half an hour won.
The scores were added at the end of the tournament.
The Moree girls team came first, and the boys, fourth.
President of the Moree tennis club, Margie Buckley, said Tamworth and Gunnedah had the best boys teams.
“For the Moree boys to come fourth is such a great achievement,” she said.
“The children really played some of their best tennis. They all really felt like a team; we even had shirts made up for them,” Buckley said.
On Saturday night the children were treated to a concert by Brothers Three who played hits from their appearance on TV’s ‘X Factor’.
