“We really needed to put a good business plan forward and I think we have done that,” Mr Ryan said.
The plan will be sent to PCYC head office in Sydney in the next couple of days.
It will detail changes such as a new coat of paint, rendering walls and modernising equipment by making it a multi-station gym.
This means more residents will be able to use the equipment at the same time.
The loan will be internally provided. The PCYC is asking for $80,000 to $90,000 loan with $75,000 of that going towards new equipment.
This loan won’t change the price of memberships.
“Obesity affects a lot of people in our community. We want to create a more affordable gym,” Mr Ryan said.
“We want people to feel good walking in to our gym to create that healthy lifestyle for themselves,” he said. Mr Ryan is hoping it will only take four to six weeks for the loan to be approved.
He will then call contractors to start the renovations straight away, hoping they will only take four weeks and be completed by the end of September.
All renovations will be done during non-peak times so patrons can still use the gym.
After renovations are complete Mr Ryan is hoping with a facelift, and some pump and RPM classes added to the schedule, more will join.
“As a PCYC we want everyone involved. We want to be the community; that’s what we’re all about,” he said.
Trainee manager, Cody Kennedy, said the club looked like a “dungeon”.
“We want it to be more motivational,” she said.
“The renovations are to attract more people to our gym.
This is so we have more money to put back into the community sporting groups and to our youth,” she added.
