Lance’s close friends Scott Gillogly and Mark Bogan have organised a show of support for Lance and his partner Ange by organising a fundraising auction, which will be held at the Upper Horton Sports Club this Saturday, July 4 in conjunction with the Upper Horton Winter Campdraft.
Lance’s fiancée Ange Markerink said the response from the community has been overwhelming.
“The response from the community has been amazing. We didn’t expect so many people to support us and we are truly grateful,” Miss Markerink said.
“I will be riding on the weekend and Lance is also planning on attending.
“Every bit helps and goes towards the medical bills, trips to Sydney for treatment and loss of income.”
The idea arose when Mr Gillogly, first heard of Lance’s illness and had experienced the hardship of prolonged medical treatment with his own family.
"I know exactly what it is like to go for months with mounting medical bills and no income, I've been in that situation and I wanted to help," Mr Gillogly said.
The campdrafting community and Upper Horton Community have all got behind Lance and donated 46 items for auction.
Auction items range from stallion service fees, dining experiences, collector’s paintings, livestock transport, saddlery, ladies fashion, spa treatments and even a corporate box experience with the Newcastle Knights, big crowds from near and far are expected.
