The program, now in its ninth year, is open to students currently living in social housing or on the NSW Housing Register.
“This fantastic scholarship program provides a $1,500 grant to students living in public housing to assist them in completing their Higher School Certificate or equivalent qualification,” Mr Marshall said.
The scholarship funds can be used to purchase items or services which help students complete the HSC or TAFE equivalent, such as private tuition, IT equipment, text books and study guides. All items purchased must relate to the subjects the student is studying.
“Previous scholarship winners have gone on to have success at University, and enter a range of careers – something that may have not been possible without the assistance this scholarship provides,” Mr Marshall said. “I encourage all eligible students to consider applying.”
Applications close at 5pm on July 31.
More information about the scholarships, including details of how to apply, can be found at www.housing.nsw.gov.au.
