After a 200-point thumping to Inverell at the start of the season the Suns have been steadily improving, taking it to the Tamworth Swans and Gunnedah for the first half before running out of legs.
But the game was never in doubt on Saturday as the Eagles dominated from the first ball up to run out winners 29-160.
Suns coach Nick O’Sullivan said the match was a learning curve and he was hoping the team could start improving once more.
“We came up against really tough opposition,” O’Sullivan said. “Narrabri have been in really good form; they knocked off Inverell last week and we knew it would be a tough game.”
In the end it was another lesson in good, hard contested football. They were far too good and too polished for us on the day and we can take a lot from it.”
The coach said fitness and winning contested situations would have to be a focus at training.
Despite not winning a game this season, the Suns continue to draw fantastic crowds, O’Sullivan said.
“Unfortunately we weren’t as competitive as we would have liked but hopefully people keep coming down checking out Aussie rules, making noise and driving the team on.”
The Suns have a tough two games ahead, taking the long road trip to Tamworth this week to meet the Kangaroos before hosting the New England Nomads in two weeks.
