Despite the inclement weather 14 people turned up including a few children. The walk was based on the theme of Anzac.
The graves visited were of Moree soldiers of WWI, two of whom served in both wars. They were Victor Crawford Matchet killed at Passchendale in France on October 13, 1917; Arthur William Carter; Robert Aubrey Roland Brown; William Charles Claud Kendall who died at the Armidale Military Camp on June 23, 1916 at the age of 43 of acute bronchitis; Charles Francis Eliott; Alfred Egbert (Bert) Roberts - Captain 7th Light Horse Regiment AIF; Alfred Andrew March - 2nd FS Engineers; Captain Max White MC, MID (Cappy) who served in both wars; Harold McLean Hollingworth (Doc) who also served in both wars and Frederick Alexander Clarke whose grave does not have a headstone. He died when he was blown off a roof he was working on during a wind storm at “Sunbury” Garah.
There is a possibility another walk will take place later this year.
