Hosted by the Moree Plains Shire Youth Council and PCYC, the colour run was a huge success attracting around 500 people from all around the world.
The five-kilometre fun run, or walk for some, took the participants on a colourful journey around Moree.
Throughout the track there were six colour gauntlets manned by volunteers ready to throw their designated colour all over the participants.
It was unknown who had more fun with the colour, the participants or the volunteers, as they made sure each colour was visible on every runner.
As each participant tackled the five kilometre track, they went through a multi-coloured finish line and quickly gathered at the snow cone and ice cream line.
Afterwards, the PCYC volunteers gathered everyone and handed out bags of colour to prepare for the last official event on the day: the colour throw.
To dust off the colour, the local fire brigade had their hoses going, which attracted many of the children and some adults.
Moree PCYC manager, Andrew Ryan, thanked everyone who sponsored, participated or volunteered for the event, as all funds will benefit the club.
“I am so proud to be part of a community who is so supportive of our PCYC club. On the weekend we showed that as a town, we can pull together and create such a positive event for our youth and community,” he said.
Usually the PCYC hold a Time4Kids event, their largest yearly fundraising event, with funds going towards their community policing activities and programs.
This year, after tying in with Youth Week, the PCYC decided to team up with the youth council to run something new and exciting.
The success of the event has led to plans for an even bigger and better colour run in 2016.
“We will be making this an annual event and will be back bigger next year. We will hold the run again in April 2016 during Youth Week so lock it in your calendars now,” Mr Ryan said.
The news of an annual event has brought smiles to people young and old, and also to those who missed this year’s event.
