Locals are encouraged to spend the day relaxing at the race track, with something for every member of the family to enjoy.
Moree Race Club secretary, Michelle Gobbert, said entry on the day would only be $10 per family.
“Usually we host the races on Easter Saturday but this is the date Racing NSW gave us this year, and we understand there are other big local events happening as well,” she said.
Gates open at 12pm with the first of five races starting at 1pm.
“We have four local horses and three local trainers; Pete Sinclair, Peter Blanch and Andrew Grey who’ve nominated horses for the weekend’s race day,” Gobbert said.
The Easter bunny will make an appearance around 4pm with some gifts for the children.
“We also have two jumping castles, face painting and fashions on the field which will focus a lot on the children,” she said.
Four sponsors have agreed to support the fashions on the field this year, so the club has decided to have judging for each young age group that enters.
“We will have a little marquee where the kids can come and enter into the competition. There are some great prizes on offer as well,” Gobbert said.
As the year starts to head into its cooler seasons, Gobbert said the weather was “looking good”.
“The grounds and track look great from the recent rain we had and hopefully the day is a bit cooler than our previous race days,” she said.
Gobbert encouraged anyone looking for something to do on Saturday to visit the racecourse and support the annual event.
“There will also be a courtesy bus operating on the day for safe arrivals home.”
