Linda Maidens said police would catch many more people under the influence of drugs than they would alcohol, if drug testing was conducted.
Linda said she was watching 60 Minutes and there was a story about a truck driver who’d smoked ice and continued to drive. “I was thinking, hello, this happens every day, how many trucks drive through this town on a daily basis? You can guarantee a lot of them are using ice to stay awake,” she said.
“The police do a wonderful job, but if we are to see change within the local community more has to be done, especially with drug testing,” Kerry Cassells said.
“If you’re going to bring drugs into this town you need money and I’m talking about thousands not $100 or even $2000. Where people in this community get that kind of money from I don’t know,” Dawn Blanch said.
“Police only need to have reasonable doubt that you’ve got drugs on you or if you’re selling it at your house to search it, so they need to start doing that, because that’s when we’re going to see change,” Dawn said.
