One of those being Kidzcare, a childcare program for working parents, which will run during the next school holidays and see children engaging in a number of sports, arts, crafts and laser tag activities.
Trainee club manager, Codie Kennedy, said the club was looking to the future to ensure all club operations were covered and activities and programs were improved.
“The club will have coverage from 7am until close every day by a manager to ensure consistency of all operations,” she said.
Learner drivers will benefit from a new safer driver course at the club.
“The program targets theory and practical components over one weekend to improve skills of driving under trained staff. Upon completing the weekend, 20 hours will be taken off the supervised driving time required,” Mrs Kennedy said.
After receiving two grants in 2014, the first $10,000 from Aussie Farmers Association to create a facility at the rear of the club with gardens, vegetable patches, a half basketball court and grassed area.
“This will enable the club to have a permanent area for the children to drop in within a safe, secure environment.
“The life members’ hut will be erected in this area in recognition of the work that they have completed.
“The PCYC will be selling a brick to families, businesses or individuals which will be placed with a plaque in recognition of the people who’ve assisted with the cost of the programs,” she said.
Crown Lands granted the club $38,035 to refurbish the kitchen to enable use of the area for all community events and hired functions.
“We’ve also erected two flag poles on the south-western side of the club.
“We will raise the Australian and Aboriginal flags at a traditional flag raising ceremony to recognise unity and reconciliation,” Mrs Kennedy said.
New ideas will be put in place during this year for gymnastics after local lady Tracie Lane travelled to Sydney for a three-day gymnastic conference.
“She is eager to commence with new ideas at the club. We are hoping to welcome kindy gym in the near future and expand our current gymnastics to enable children to enter competition level,” she said.
Nominations are being called for indoor mixed and ladies netball, mixed oztag, squash and men’s basketball.
“We’re looking forward to taking the PCYC to the next level. We do a lot of activates and our major goal for 2015 is to develop and break down each one,” she said.
As new trainee club manager, Mrs Kennedy looked forward to implementing fresh ideas.
“I’m excited to take on this new role. There is no job more rewarding than to get out of bed each day knowing you have the opportunity to give every child a chance to succeed in life.”
