NATIONALS MP Adam Marshall said incorporating the Moree area among the broad-reaching Northern Tablelands electorate would only add to the diversity of the region accounting for around 45,000 square kilometres as of this year’s state election.

“I’m looking forward to having Moree come into the Northern Tablelands. It will become an even more diverse electorate, in terms of land use, in terms of issues and I think in a way that’s perfect because it actually is a good snapshot of what regional NSW is about,” Mr Marshall said recently.
“In the east you’ve got the communities like Armidale and Guyra, more grazing, more city focused and then as you go further west, it becomes more broadacre, a lot more rural and very different issues from east to west. I’m comfortable with that, that’s rural NSW and that’s what I love - the diversity of issues.”
As part of the electoral district redistribution, the Northern Tablelands will incorporate a further 8000 square kilometres, including Mungindi and Boggabilla, stretching east to Glen Innes and south to Armidale.
Mr Marshall said the electorate would benefit from the inclusion of the diverse Moree area.
“I’ve been in my role now for 19 months and hopefully people have seen that I’ve been working my backside off,” he said.
“I’m not one that believes in sitting behind a desk, I don’t think you can do your job effectively.
“I’m on the road a lot more, but that is fine by me, I absolutely love my job and I work as hard as I can and my door is always open.”
As part of the redistribution, the Northern Tablelands will include seven local government areas, redefining the electorate western boundary at the Barwon and Macintyre rivers.
