Flying Ash placed third in the fifth race, the 1600m class two plate.
Fernando said he was happy with the placing after the race on Saturday afternoon, and strapper Samantha Russell (pictured left with jockey Belinda Hodder) was all smiles.
Flying Ash came in ahead of Peter Sinclair’s Rock Right On.
Sinclair had two fourths for the day, the other with Petal’s Pride in the 900m George Sinclair Memorial maiden handicap.
Fernando also got a fourth with Pushthru in race four.
Luke Griffiths was named best trainer while the jockey’s prize was shared between Belinda Hodder and Ben Looker.
Moree Race Club secretary, Michelle Gobbert, said about 3500 went to this year’s meeting.
“It was a great day, the crowd was probably a similar size to last year, and everyone was really well behaved,” she said.
“The Party House sold out. It went off really well, and all the feedback we’ve got back has been very positive.”
