It was all smiles and puffed chests as BLC’s 16 students received recognition of their efforts and achievements throughout the year. But no-one was more proud than Ms Hayes and vice principal Steve Sampson, who led the ceremony.
Bowen Griffith was given the principal’s award. Geoffrey Tighe, Tyreke Gillon and Billy Peers were awarded significant improvement in literacy. Significant improvement in numeracy went to Bowen Griffith, Brock Brown and Geoffrey Tighe.
Positive development of social skills went to Jai Nelson, Bowen Griffiths and Tyreke Gillon.
Attendance awards went to Tyreke Gillon and Geoffrey Tighe for attendance of more than 95 per cent. The recipients of the sports medals were Bowen Griffith and Lachlan Haines.
BLC also farewelled two of its own. Teachers Elizabeth Murdoch and Chris Fisko, who were much loved and respected by students and staff, will be moving on to new projects.
BLC also thanked members of the community for their support, including Chris Binge, Buddy Sampson and Thomas Chatfield from the Boomerangs, who have been mentoring and training students. Darrell Smith and Glen Crump from Miyay Birray were also thanked for providing a bus used on Friday excursions.
