This year’s fashions on the field will see categories for the best dressed lady, best dressed gentleman, best dressed young lady, best dressed couple and best hat or fascinator.
Moree Race Club committee member and FOTF organiser, Shayne Miller, said there was always strong competition at the Christmas meet.
There’s a slight change to the competition this year. Nominations won’t be taken at a specific site but a number of judges will wander the course to select their favourites from about 5pm.
Ms Miller said about 20 people would be selected in each category, which would then be broken down to about eight or 10 to take the stage before the winners are announced.
Nominees will be given a wrist band to wear which will include the time they need to be present for the announcement, which will be about 6pm.
So guys and girls, that means you’ve got to stay ‘classy’ until the big announcement.
Some tips from the organiser included shoes - think practical because you are going to be on your feet all day. “Wedges are the best,” Ms Miller said.
“Some beautiful strappy, sandals can be nice too.
“No strapless dresses are allowed and nothing too short. It’s still the races so we need to be a little bit traditional,” she said.
“It’s summer so think colour and fun. All the bold colours are always popular but coral is making a comeback this year.
“The tradition of matching your bag and hat/fascinator will score points.
“And don’t forget the men’s outfits should be linked to the ladies.
“For gents it’s a shirt and a tie. If you are brave enough to wear a jacket, amazing.
“We understand it’s hot though so be practical.”
There are some great prizes on offer including over $3500 in prize money and two return flights to Sydney, so make sure you are looking stylish!
