This section of the highway had been reduced to a single lane to allow for improvements to the road as part of the Moree Gateway project.

Council’s executive projects manager John Carleton said of the upmost importance was motorist safety and the difference in the road levels had been rectified and line marking completed.

“Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and to the road conditions when travelling past the Moree Gateway,” he said.

Construction works will continue in January and the section of the Newell Highway in the vicinity of theproject will again operate under one lane carriageway for a short period to finalise the remainder of the road works and apply an overlay seal.
