A nine-man Services club batted first and were dismissed for 143, with all batsmen pitching in but no-one amassing a major total. Nick Marshall top scored with 34.
Stallions captain Kyle O’Connor gave everyone a bowl and most pitched in with a wicket.
“If you had to pick an individual I’d say Nick Fisher, the young bloke got his first wicket and did an awesome run out, hitting the stumps down, which he must be pretty proud off,” O’Connor said.
Stallions got the runs in the 13th over for the lose of just two wickets, with Ben Day and Chris Holland notching half centuries. O’Connor scored 40.
Moree FC set Golfies a target of 146 from their 20 overs, losing six wickets in the process.
The Montgomery boys opened the bowling for Golfies and kept things tight at both ends. But wickets eluded them and FC built a solid platform to set a more-than-defendable total. D Smith top scored with 40 while John Appleby hit 18. Steve Scarlett was clobbered all over the park but picked up two wickets for 42 runs while James Martinuzzi claimed 2/28 and Doug Murphy 2/21.
Golfies lost early wickets but a captain’s knock from Doug Murphy steadied the ship and saw them run down their target with nine balls and five wickets to spare. Murphy hit 79no and was ably supported by Joe Hinchliffe, with the new recruit scoring 23 in a cameo which can only augur well for his debut season.
