The 15-year-old represented Club 2400 Moree Physie and Dance at Monday night’s APDA National finals.
The event showcased the top 15 girls in Australia in their respective age groups with Briggs gaining fifth place in the 15 years group.
“It was overwhelming,” she said. “I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that I was picked, as soon as they called my number I was shaking.”
It was the first time she had placed at the nationals after making the finals for the third time, and Briggs said the experience had been invaluable.
“I was more confident in myself this time,” she said. “I knew what I was doing. I’d done my training with the club and I knew what I could do.”
Teachers at Club 2400 Pam Burley and Jenny Mulligan said they were enormously proud of her efforts and hope she enjoyed the “accolades she so richly deserves”.
“Her hard work, dedication and determination paid off,” Burley said. “[This is] a dream that has been achieved by Karlee in her chosen sport.”
