According to community program coordinator, Shaen Fraser, the campaign Saving Life: Vision for Change outlines five of the most important opportunities for the next State Government to help beat cancer.
“These include addressing the selling of tobacco, improving cancer services for Aboriginal people, addressing chemotherapy co-payments, access to care coordination, and increasing palliative care services,” she said.
Ms Fraser outlined the ageing population within Australia.
“We face a future where more people will be diagnosed with cancer, and it is up to the next government to make decisions now to ensure cancer patients and their families will get the help they need,” she said.
“Vision for change addresses problems that we know the community, cancer patients and their families face. For each problem we’ve outlined practical solutions that the next State Government has the power to deliver, and that we know would make a difference to many people in NSW,” Ms Fraser said.
She said at the meeting the Moree community showed a great deal of interest in the campaign and were asked to talk to other community members to spread the word.
