“These upgraded facilities represent a fresh start which will have a profound effect on students’ learning opportunities at the school — an effect which I am confident will translate into improved life outcomes,” Mr Piccoli said.
“Better facilities mean better opportunities for students’ learning.
“It is a valuable investment that will bring lasting dividends to the Collarenebri community and its young people for many years to come.”
Mr Piccoli said the wide-ranging upgrade included new administration and staff facilities; computer, music and English learning spaces; canteen, laundry and student toilets; sporting facilities, including a netball court; and a covered outdoor learning area with an elevated stage for performances.
“This major investment has created a teaching and learning environment that will take Collarenebri Central School forward, providing a contemporary education setting,” Mr Piccoli said.
Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries welcomed investment.
“Already, this school is providing exciting opportunities for learning, using technology through its whole school iPad-based program. The new computer laboratory will enhance this important initiative,” Mr Humphries said.
“I trust the upgrade will give students, staff and the community a reinvigorated pride in their school and a renewed commitment to the value of education and its impact on life outcomes.”
