THE ASC Youth Group’s inaugural Rural ShowLink Ball is fast approaching.
To be held in Narrabri on September 8, ball organiser, Toni Jericho is busy getting the finer details organised for what is promising to be a great night out.
Modern country music artist, Ryan Morris has been booked and donations for raffle and auction items are fast coming in.
Earlier this year, the ASC Youth Group held its 12th annual ball in Wagga Wagga, with over 300 people in attendance.
Over $10,000 was raised on the night through raffle items and auctions, with funds going towards scholarships supporting youth involved in agriculture and the show movement.
The ASC Youth Group is a branch of the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW, which is the governing body to the 195 country shows around NSW. Since its inception in 2001, the Youth Group has strived to engage young, like-minded people to become involved in agriculture through country shows.
With now over 100 members and growing, their aim is to increase the awareness of what young adults are achieving both in their show societies and the agricultural industry, as well as encourage new faces to become involved, no matter their background.
“We hope that like the southern ball this event will not only encourage people from 18-35 years of age in the northern parts of NSW and southern QLD to mingle and meet new people, but create a link from north to south, with many people travelling large distances to attend,” Ms Jericho said.
There will be a prize for the furthest travelled, lucky door prizes, raffle items, and as in Wagga, the chance to bid on great trips away and fantastic pieces of artwork.
The ball is being held at the Narrabri RSL, starting at 6pm. Dress is black tie, with girls dressing in their finest cocktail or ball gowns.
Ticket sales will close Friday and are available via the ASC website www.agshowsnsw.org.au – look for ‘Youth Group’ tab then ‘ASCYG Calendar’ and follow the links, or from Vyntage Vogue, Narrabri.
