Last weekend’s races mean the fields will be high quality, but based on times run on Saturday, Moree greyhound committee member Brian Steel said a few races would be contests between two.
The races will be run over two days (Saturday and Monday) and Steel said there was two main chances in the final of the sprint on Monday.
“Based on times last weekend the dog to beat will be Wooroolin Easy, trained by Norm Sykes, but Dress Code is also a strong chance,” he said.
There will only be one final on Saturday which will be in the maiden class and Steel believed it also would be a race between two.
“You Telam Troy, trained by Anthony Bunney and Isaah Panther, trained by Paul Wasson will be the ones to beat,” he said.
The highlight of Saturday’s racing will be the David Rose Memorial with El Sportsman the favourite.
“Dave passed away due to cancer about 12 months ago and he previously owned El Sportsman who is a big chance of winning this race,” Steel said.
With the race fields being released yesterday, Steel said there were a few new faces that did not race last weekend.
“We’ve got 10 races on both days with full fields, but we don’t really know how the fields will be come Monday,” he said.
“Sometimes some dogs can back up, but others can’t.”
