Paul Jobber will leave the team tomorrow to take up a position at Port Macquarie with the Port News.
When the Champion sat down and had a chat with Paul during the week he reflected on his time and thanked everyone who had made the transition into a new town a little easier.
“Everyone in the community has been more than willing to help me out since I started here,” he said.
“But the sporting side of things has made the time spent here all the more enjoyable.
When Paul wasn’t clocking up the kilometres in the car travelling to and from Newcastle, he spent a bit of time taking in the surrounds of Moree.
When asked what he enjoyed the most about the time here he summed it up in a few words.
“The pool, sport and the community.”
Paul saved special mention for his work colleagues at the Champion office, in particular editorial sidekicks Cady and Laini.
“If someone had have said to me I’d be working in a mostly all-girl office, I probably wouldn’t have liked it, but it hasn’t been too bad,” he laughed.
And what does the future hold?
“I’m not too sure, but the plan is to come back and catch a rugby league game in the next year or so,” Paul said.
He finished up with a special mention of current manager Lisa Reed and former manager Ron Turton.
“They’ve both helped me to be the journalist I am now.”
