Police arrested a 24-year-old woman and are questioning her over the stabbing at a unit on Cooper Street late on Wednesday night.
Police say that a number of people were socialising inside the unit on Wednesday night before the woman was asked to leave about 11.30pm. A NSW Police spokeswoman said it was not clear why the woman was asked to leave the gathering.
The woman then allegedly armed herself with two kitchen knives and attacked a 46-year-old man in the chest and face.
The injured man fled the unit, and was treated by paramedics at a neighbouring property. He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The woman was arrested at the Cooper Street property and is being questioned by police. No charges have been laid.
