The company are locally based and have been operating in the construction industry for more than 65 years.
Moree Plains Shire Council believe their experience of large scale infrastructure works will be a great asset to the development.
Executive projects manager, John Carleton, said Wilde Civil understood the right aspects of the development.
“Understanding soils is a big thing around here,” he said.
In total, 17 submissions were received from companies spanning New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Victoria.
While Wilde Civil will be the major contractor, subcontracting work will also flow through to local contractors.
“That was part of their submission,” Mr Carleton said.
“It could have been anyone, but we’re fortuitous it’s someone local.”
General manager, David Aber, said the council was happy with the appointment.
“The tender selection process was detailed and involved evaluation of technical and commercial criteria,” he said.
The development will consist of five water storage ponds, two of which will be 800 metres long and built in compliance with international and Australian water skiing standards.
The third water storage pond will be 1.2 kilometres long and over 200 metres wide and designed as a circuit lake for a wide range of water sports and recreational activities.
Mr Aber said the water ski lakes would introduce a significant new sport, recreational and tourist facility currently not available in the region.
”The water ski lakes will create local job opportunities, bring investment to the area, support local community initiatives and leave a long-term positive legacy for Moree Plains,” he said.
Work is expected to start in late October.
