The Moree Arts Council Thespian Club encouraged local members to produce and perform the show.

Five stories were acted out by the primary students including 10 Little Pirates at Sea, Wild Things, Wombat Stew, Three Little Bush Pigs and Let the Jury Decide.

Each story was enjoyed by friends and family of the students.

Organisers said there were about 100 tickets sold for Saturday and another 80 on Sunday.

“It’s very exciting numbers for our first production,” Naomi Burger said.

She said the students “loved” performing in front of an audience.

“They hardly seemed to notice that there was a room full of people in front of them.  All the little performers were beaming on stage at the applause,” she said.

Feedback to organisers suggested there should be a production from the young thespians each term.

“I’m not sure that this will be the case, but I have no doubt there will be another production by the budding, young thespians who were on stage this weekend,” she said.

Ms Burger said overall the children enjoyed their experience from rehearsals through to the show days.

“It was a fun and exciting experience for the children.  Seeing it all come together was fantastic.  We knew it would be great, but I think everyone agreed that it was so much better than even we had imagined.”

Organisers will make a Storytime DVD available for locals to purchase.

“It’s just so people can have their own little keepsake of the production,” she said.
