Moree’s Jellicoe Park is named after the Jellicoe Oak trees which got their name from his history.
Reports state he was good in everything he did, usually passing examinations with flying colours and winning several awards.
He also served as governor general of New Zealand between September 27, 1920 and December 12, 1924.
From the outbreak of the First World War to November 1916 Admiral Jellicoe was the supreme commander of the North Sea.
When he visited the Grand Fleet in England, the Lord Mayor of London at the time said “fogs and rough seas surrounded our physical presence, but Jellicoe himself was a beacon of hope and confidence”.
Admiral Jellicoe was known so well he was eventually buried alongside Lord Nelson following his death in 1935 at Westminster Abbey.
