Vice-president, Mick Fernance, said there were 230 people who attend the night which was good to see.
“When you have that sort of attendance it shows we’ve got something to build on heading into the nines in February next year,” he said.
The evening kicked off with the ladies league tag awards with Sophie Henderson winning the best link, Stacey Duff was named the best middle while Sasha Henderson was the top point scorer.
Alisha Briggs was the most dedicated, Chantel Leard won the coach’s award, Taliah Ryan was the young achiever and Heidi Morris was the players’ player.
In the under 18s Zach Hauser won the best back and players player, Brent McDonald was the best forward, Marcus Kelly was awarded as the top point scorer and Sean Gallagher won the Max Scott Award as the most dedicated.
Mitch Girard won Matt Marshall’s coach’s award and Luke Hetherington was named the young achiever.
In reserve grade Richie Smith was the best back, Jeremy Ritchie was best forward, Craig Rutledge won the top point scorer award and Adam Hague was the most dedicated.
Matt Bell won the coach’s award and Marcus Kelly was named young achiever.
The night wrapped up with Joe Henderson winning the best back and top point scorer awards for first grade, while Adam Rodilossi was named best forward, Tom Ryan was the most dedicated and Ben Kennedy won the coach’s award.
Brent McDonald was the young achiever and John Lawton won the critics corner award.
The best and fairest awards went to Linda Smith in the league tag, Ethan Collins in the under 18s, Adam Bailey in reserve grade and Chris Holland in first grade.
Mark McGrady was the club person of the year.
“They were all worthy winners and I’d also like to thank everyone involved in the committee for the fabulous job they’ve done this season,” Fernance said.
He said the main focus of the night was improvement.
And they’re well on the way if some of their results this season are any indication.
Consistency proved their undoing on most occasions from week to week this season, but the future looks bright with most grades being in the running for the finals this season.
