Publicity officer, Kathryn Poole, said they were extremely excited.
“It’s been a long time coming,” she said.
“Establishing a new BMX club is not easy and has involved many steps including getting the support of Moree Plains Shire Council through to agreeing to enter into a lease. They then provided us with a donation towards getting started.”
By re-opening the club, it is hoped the benefits to the community will be endless.
“Having the club going provides a great activity for the community,” she said.
“People of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to come along. Having a club means that locals can compete and represent their own town in regional and state competitions.
“This means a lot to those who have had to compete away in the past.”
Ms Poole said the track would always be open to the public which meant people could use it for practice or fun even when club meetings weren’t being held.
It is believed professional riders will be in attendance to showcase their skills and talent in amongst some exciting and fast- paced exhibition races.
“We’ll have Jake Longhurst, Dan Morris and Dave Graham all attending which is exciting,” she said.
The event will run in conjunction with council’s Bike Week event.
Throughout the afternoon numerous activities and games will take place.
Participants are also invited to come along dressed in costume and have their bike decorated with prizes awarded.
Residents are encouraged to bring a bike, a helmet, a long-sleeve top, long pants and closed in shoes and take part.
“The establishment of the BMX club provides yet another great activity for locals. We hope to see some new and familiar faces trying out this fantastic sport for themselves.”
