More than 50 Arts Council Thespian juniors will present their production which entails five stories.
The children, aged between five and 12 years will perform ‘Let the Jury Decide’ a story questioning why the wolf blew down the three little pig’s houses. The question is was he hungry, or was he looking out for their welfare.
‘Ten Little Pirates at Sea’ will see the pirates sailing out to sea, looking for adventures and happy as can be. Before long the 10 happy chaps run into a hurricane, a giants squid and a hungry shark?
An Australian twist called ‘The Three Little Bushpigs’ will be performed where a hungry dingo will do anything for an easy feed.
‘Where the Wild Things Are’ will see Max and Maxine go on an adventure to a place where wild things may be. The question is, will they ever want to come home?
And the last performance will be ‘Wombat Stew’ a story about a clever dingo who caught a wombat and decided to make a gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy, wombat stew when things go horribly wrong.
Storytime producer, Rebecca Reardon, said the children had been practising hard and were excited but nervous to perform.
“We’d like to see as many people as possible come along to the production this weekend, to give our little thespians the encouragement and gratification they deserve. We’d love people to bring their children along to the performance to perhaps spark an interest in them to get involved in future productions,” she said.
Last term, qualified drama teacher, Stevie Drenkhahn, ran free workshops with the juniors to try and boost their confidence and she has also helped the directors of Storytime to make sure the performance was spectacular.
“Local businesses have been incredibly supportive and supplying materials, helping to build and paint the set, has been a whole community effort. Parents have been heavily involved with these behind the scene efforts each weekend as well,” Ms Reardon said.
The children will perform at 10am on Saturday and 10.30am on Sunday at the areo club (airport).
Tickets are on sale now at Moree Frame and Art and if seats are still available, they can be purchased on the day.
