The players spent time at Moree East Public School and St Philomena's doing drills while also playing games with the students.
The visit was part of the NSW Blues Country Blitz Tour 2014 with the main emphasis on generating awareness and improving player skills in the lead-up to the upcoming cricket season.
Lalor said cricket was at a disadvantage over rugby league and AFL because it was more difficult to keep children focussed.
"It's easy for those sports to come to country areas and play six-a-side games, but it's a bit more difficult for us," he said.
"But it's important for us to keep the drills short and sharp and keep the kids moving so they don't get bored."
Hazlewood said the introduction of the Twenty20 Big Bash had seen more younger children take an interest in the game.
"I've been playing with the Blues for longer than the Sixers, but all the kids just know me from the Big Bash," he said.
"Whenever we play at the SCG it's packed out and there are a lot of younger kids there which is great to see."
On Friday, they will host an open 'come and try T20 blast' clinic at Ron Harborne Oval from 4pm for all interested cricketers.
