Following the success of last year’s inaugural Moree on a Plate long lunch the committee has been busily finalising details for this year’s event, to be held on Saturday, September 27 in the gardens of the Moree Plains Shire Gallery.
Complementing the Moree on a Plate festival held each May, the long lunch aims to further promote the region’s produce, featuring a five-course menu showcasing mouth-watering, fresh fare from across the region.
Narrabri’s Treen O’Brien from Relish Catering will provide for the event, with live music from Moree band Hoi Polloi adding to the relaxed atmosphere of the day.
Organiser, Ros Van Dongen, said the event was an opportunity for the community to come together in a relaxed, social atmosphere and enjoy a day out before the busy festive season inevitably kicks into gear.
“It’s also an opportunity to recognise and thank our generous sponsors and to further promote the fabulous variety of local produce on offer in the north west,” she said.
“From olive groves to pecan nut trees, our region is blessed with fertile soils and passionate producers, and we are ideally placed as a leader on the regional fresh produce map.
“This event is an opportunity to celebrate our wonderful industry and aims to complement the annual Moree on a Plate festival held each May.”
And be it young or old, couple or single, she said the event was something the whole community could appreciate.
“The recent rain has certainly lifted spirits across the region and it’s a great opportunity for everyone to come out of winter hibernation and enjoy the change in season,” she said.
Ms Van Dongen believed guests to the event would certainly left satisfied.
Tickets to the event are strictly limited.
Guests can purchase tickets at a cost of $80 from the website www.moreeonaplate.com.au or in person at NAB Agribusiness or Webb and Boland, Moree.
