League tag player, Amy Sampson, said 140 people attended the event.
“There were a few highlights on the night. We put four pencils under different chairs and the people who sat there had to come up on the stage and sing to win 10 extra points for their teams. All four people sang and they were Tammy Shearer, Lindon McGrady, Rachel Cubis and Bec Byrne,” she said.
The trivia covered a wide-range of different questions, and with the help of the league tag players, trivia contestants were able to buy answers.
“The trivia was close; the winners were Streak’s Team who finished on 76 points and second place finished with 74 points. Everyone had a really good time,” Miss Sampson said.
The total amount raised on the night was $2830 which will go towards purchasing footballs, training shirts, a kicking tee and more.
After the trivia, DJ Linden McGrady brought out the decks and about 30 people stayed for a disco.
“I’ve talked to a few people about the night and they’ve all said they had a lot of fun. It was really successful so we’ll discuss whether to make it a more common thing,” she said.
Meanwhile, the league tag girls have a crucial game at the weekend against Glen Innes.
“It all depends on this weekend whether we will make the finals or not. We are counting on Ashford to beat Tingha and we have to beat Glen,” Miss Sampson said.
Because the Moree Boars changed from Group 4 to Group 19, this is the first year they’ve been able to have a ladies league tag side.
“We’ve done really well to make it this far in the first year. Hopefully after purchasing the new equipment and doing some training, we’ll do even better next year,” she said.
