President, Tony Hall, said the event ran well, due to the help of many from around the region.
Events on Saturday included campdraft, bends, flags, running tee, American bends, point to point and barrel races, and on Sunday the open novice was hosted.
“For a little campdraft we received close to 300 entries. We like to keep it smaller but more competitive for the locals,” Hall said.
People travelled from Thallon, Mungindi, Tamworth and Garah to compete.
“A local drover by the name of Ben Thompson was a standout throughout the weekend.
“The Johnson girls had a good weekend as well,” Hall said.
The Lobsey family organised a dinner on Saturday evening for competitors.
“Because it’s such a little event we were overwhelmed with the amount of support, donations and sponsors that jumped on board this year.
“Times are tough and for such a young draft to do so well is a great thing,” he said.
The MacCue and Vickery family donated cattle for the draft, and the Carrigans donated equipment.
“A very big thanks to everyone who helped, especially the families who continue to donate their cattle; we can’t have a campdraft with no cattle,” he said.
The committee work with the pony club each year to benefit the recreation grounds.
“We host these events to put the place back on the map and make it more like a community rather than just a place,” Hall said.
