In recent years conditions have been dry which have still proven to be testing for competitors, but organiser, Errol Carter, said the course would be looking good.
“The rain means it will be in almost perfect condition; there will be little to no dust,” he said.
Carter said numbers were up from last year which he believed was due to a number of factors, including general awareness.
“People know a bit more about the mud trials now. We’ve been down at the markets with our bombs as well as going to the car shows,” he said.
This weekend will be the last round in the Bomb of the Year category and Carter said there were many still in contention to win the various other categories.
“There are about four or five in the standards, four or five with the modified, but we’re not doing it in the buggies this year. We will be next year,” he said.
All up Carter expected 25 competitors in the standard class, 15 in the modified and 10 in the buggies.
“We’ve got people coming from Emerald, a few from Walgett, Colly and Singleton,” he said.
There will be canteen facilities available and people can camp on Saturday night.
“We’ll have a DJ and a barbecue at the pub on Saturday night and we’re hoping to get racing started at 9am on Sunday with the scrutineering to be about 7am.
“There will be plenty of mud so it should be a good day.”
