Country Girl’s known for changing the lives of country girls by opening doors into the fashion industry.
The competition was founded by Katie Jones, originally from Inverell, in 2009 and throughout the competition the entrants will be mentored by her.
Miss Clissold said she found the Country Girl website whilst browsing the internet and saw that applications were being taken.
“I thought it was a great opportunity because there aren’t many doorways for me to do or get into modelling in Moree, and even if I don’t make it through it will still be a good experience to be a part of,” she said.
Miss Clissold said she was familiar with contests such as Country Girl after participating in the Miss Teen Galaxy Pageant last year.
“Although it is not my main goal in life to become a well-known model, I would still like to get some contacts in the modelling industry as it is a big hobby of mine,” she said.
The organisers of Country Girl are still taking applications for the four different categories; junior, senior, swimwear and a new section called career which aims to provide girls with an insight into the ‘behind the scenes’ side of the industry.
When applications finish, Miss Clissold said she would be notified of when and where the heats will be held to start the judging process.
“I am hoping the heats do not clash with my trip to Africa to work with endangered and injured animals which is in November,” she said.
Rescuing, raising and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife was another one of Miss Clissold’s hobbies.
“My mother and I are going to Africa from November 11-27 to volunteer at a rehabilitation centre where injured and abandoned wildlife are taken to get better,” she said.
Miss Clissold said she was excited to see the rhinos that were recently born during their mother’s rehabilitation period in the centre.
The Moree Champion will do a more in-depth story about Miss Clissold’s journey to Africa closer to her departure date.
