MPSC senior planner, Murray Amos, presented the results of the scheme after expressions of interest were opened.
Five expressions of interest were received. Another two submissions were included but it was noted the residents were missing from the list of eligible properties.
One family who put off their renovations asked the council if they could possibly be put forward or know a timeframe for the work to be completed as they had their money ready to go, but were more than 100th on the list for the work.
Mr Amos said if the council adopted the scheme, they could start contacting the list starting with the first 10 to speed-up the process.
Councillor Sue Price asked Mr Amos how much money was attached to the scheme as it would take more than 100 years for some families to be able to participate.
“At this stage there is no solid amount,” he said.
Councillor John Tramby said as a voice of the people, the council needed to go to the State Government and ask them to speed up or change the process so that families waiting to lift their house did not have to wait that long.
The council adopted the scheme.
