The Boomies took a while to get going but once they did they led 26-10 at the break before hitting top gear in the second half.
It was a tough day for the Tigers with several players backing up from reserve grade as they struggled for numbers with Boomies coach Chris Binge saying the possibility of a forfeit floated before kick-off.
Binge said while the victories keep coming with seemingly monotonous ease it was a continuation of hard work.
“It certainly makes my job easier as a coach but nothing comes easy,” he said.
“We were probably a bit flat for the first half. We weren’t bad, but we probably fell a bit into a false sense of security. Our second half was much better and we completed at around 100 per cent.”
Binge said the team normally played well for the first half before going away from what they know works in the second half.
“It was a little bit different to previous weeks, but we’re still looking for that 80-minute performance,” he said.
“We’re not quite in semi-final mode yet.”
Winger Jason Saunders continued his recent try-scoring form with four tries and was ably supported by halves Will Fernando and Jamie Sampson.
“Rick Roberts didn’t play and Will stepped up well with Jamie in the halves and Toby Key was again outstanding up front,” Binge said.
“Overall it was a good team performance.”
Earlier in the day reserve grade continued their march to the minor premiership with a hard-fought 32-22 win.
“They’ve had to grind it out in recent weeks and they’ve had a few scares, but they’re doing well,” Binge said.
“They’re sailing along nicely at the top.”
The under 18s had a forfeit while the league tag girls had a comprehensive 34-8 win.
“Overall it was a good day for the club and we’ll look to continue that this weekend in the local derby,” he said.
