Mr Coulton met with Richard Quigley (Trangie), Felicity Taylor (Moree), Kate Johnston (Moree) and Jack Scifleet (Binnaway), who are pictured right.
“These young people have a love for agriculture and a love of the land in their DNA. They have been brought up to respect the land and to have a belief in agriculture,” Mr Coulton said. “It is a great privilege to meet motivated, young, professional people like these.”
Mr Coulton spoke in the Parliament about the promising future of agriculture in Australia.
“There are wonderful opportunities today for graduates to have a professional career in agriculture with two and half jobs on offer for every graduate.
“The free trade agreements with countries to our north such as Japan and South Korea mean that having a productive agricultural sector is more important than ever,” he said.
“I would also like to commend the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation for their work in coordinating the Horizon Scholarship as well as the industry sponsors who work with the recipients.”
