Winter was a member of the Queensland Country under 14 rugby side who played Queensland City before the Reds and Waratahs match in the Super 15 competition.
His father, Peter, was impressed with how his young son performed on the day.
“He came off the bench in the 15th minute and then played the rest of the game at lock,” he said.
“He went really well and said it was an awesome experience, but it would have been nice for him to have played in front of a bigger crowd,” he added.
“That’s it for the under 14s this year.”
The day was the first time the family had seen the Waratahs play live and they enjoyed the experience.
Winter was selected for the Queensland Country side after playing in the Darling Downs teenage carnival as a member of Scots College and has previously played for Central North after starting with the junior Bulls a few years ago.
“They had six sides play in that carnival and they then selected a 23-man squad after, which Tom was lucky enough to be picked in,” Winter said.
“He’s also been fortunate enough to have played a lot of games recently which might have helped him.”
A try on the siren gave the Queensland Country side a 28-26 victory.
The youngster said he enjoyed the experience and made a lot of friends.
“I went into camp a few days before the game and that was a good social experience, but I really enjoyed playing at Suncorp.”
