A truck hitting a bridge has closed a road, caused trains to be suspended between Glenfield and Liverpool and triggered commuter headaches for western Sydney this evening.
Passengers heading out of the city during the PM peak to stations between Glenfield and Campbelltown are being told to take the Airport & East Hills Line.
It follows the incident at 4.40pm this afternoon after a truck struck the Newbridge Road bridge in Bigge Street in Liverpool. The bridge is now being inspected for damage and Newbridge Road has been closed to traffic.
Trains have also been suspended in both directions on the south line between Glenfield and Liverpool with buses being organised to run as a replacement between these two stations.
Westbound traffic on Newbridge Road is being diverted at Moorebank Avenue and eastbound traffic is being diverted at Pirie Street.
